Who is in date and who is not, in one grid, derived from the record rather than ticked by hand.

The compliance matrix is one grid: your people down the side, the training required of them across the top, and a state in each cell. It answers "who is out of date" in about four seconds.
Where the grid comes from
The columns are your standing requirements — what is required of everybody, and what is required of each staff role. The rows are the people those rules reach. Neither is a list somebody maintains, which is why the matrix is still right in February.
What a cell means

| In date | Completed, and the completion has not run out. |
| Part way | Started and not finished. |
| Not started | Required, nothing done. |
| Overdue | Past the date it was wanted by. |
| Lapsed | Completed once, and the completion has run out. |
Every state carries a word as well as a colour, so the grid is readable by somebody who cannot distinguish the two.
Completed is not the same as in date
This is the distinction the whole page exists to make. A safeguarding refresher completed in 2024 is a completion; whether it is compliance today depends on how long that module counts for. The matrix always asks the second question. See certificates, and when one runs out.
What to do about a red cell
Usually nothing, because the standing requirement has already assigned it and the daily chase is already reminding them. Where it is genuinely stuck — somebody on long-term leave, somebody who has left and not been closed — the fix is on the people page rather than here.
Reading it on a phone
The grid can be wider than the screen, and it scrolls sideways inside its own box rather than making the whole page scroll. On a narrow screen the per-person view is easier: open somebody from the people page for their own row on its own.

Who can see it
School Admins. It is a page about the whole school's compliance, so it sits with the people who are accountable for it. Everybody can see their own record at their learning record.
